The cashier gave the man an undisclosed amount of money and left.
Later that same night, about 12:30 a.m., a man entered a Scotchman Store on Eastwood Road, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The man received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.
He is described as a black male, about 6 feet tall and with facial hair. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, black shirt and blue jeans.
Police said the cases are similar and are under investigation.
