Ken Blevins, who grew up in Brentwood, Tenn., never dreamed he would end up living near the coast. He started his professional career while still in college, as a photographer for The Tuscaloosa News in Tuscaloosa, Ala. After graduating from the University of Alabama, he worked as a photographer for the Houma Courier, where he also covered Mardi Gras and the New Orleans Saints. (It is a well-known fact around the office that he also learned how to make a mean pot of gumbo.) He moved to the East Coast from Louisiana 11 years ago. He lives in Brunswick County with his wife, Pam, and their 1-year-old daughter, Kadie. In his spare time, he enjoys working on home-improvement projects and practices archery with the hopes that one day he will capture that one-and-only special deer.
