Food writer Allison Ballard knows a thing or two about Southern cuisine. For five years at the Star-News, the thirtysomething penned her thoughts on everything from restaurant openings and wine tastings to chef profiles and even ranked the area’s best dishes with her weekly food column. These days, Ballard is mulling the idea of sinking her teeth into the same arena she’s had a passion for writing about all these years – and aiming for a master’s degree in the food services field.
