CAPE FEAR FAIR & EXPO
It’s all ‘Fair’ game.

FOR KIDS, fairs mean cotton candy, clowns and rides on the Ferris wheel. For parents, it means wiping sticky fingers, wiping away tears from clown scares and downing a few Tums after your child drags you for the umpteenth time on the high-speed Zipper.

The fair, which runs Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 at Wilmington International Airport off 23rd Street, offers the usual – balloons, blueberry pie and barnyard animals – and the not so usual – a contest focused on crowing. “If you can cock-a-doodle-doo, you could win,” says Skip Watkins, who oversees the festivities.

Admission is $13. Advance tickets are $11, and go on sale Oct. 1 in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties. A portion of advance sales goes to a local charity. Details: www.capefearfair.com.
