Buccaneers Team Capsules

Boys Basketball
- Last year: 15-10 overall, 6-6 Mideastern; lost in first round of playoffs
  Starters back: 2 – F Brandon Ellington, G Antwan Bosier
  What's old: The Bucs’ up-tempo style of play and lack of size. Typically more guard-oriented, they only have one experienced post player in Ellington.
  What's new: Finding where the points will come from. The Bucs graduated about 90 percent of their scoring, so coach Fred Lynch said he needs each player to chip in six to eight points.
  Player to watch: Bosier. The 5-foot-11 guard is quick in transition and can dunk. With little inside presence, the Bucs will need him to score in double digits.
  Coach says: “Our plan is to push the ball faster than we have before,” Lynch said. “We’re not going to be blessed with a very strong inside game, so we’ll just have to take advantage of opportunities.”
Girls Basketball
- Last year: 22-7, 12-0 Mideastern; Lost in regional playoffs
  Starters back: 2 - Nikki Lynch, Kabrina Truesdale
  What’s old: The Bucs will keep up the defensive pressure
  What’s new: Plenty of new faces for the Bucs, as role players will step into bigger roles
  Player to watch: Guard Kabrina Truesdale will be the engine that makes the Bucs go.
Wrestling
- Starters back: 7–Anthony Colon (112), Boomer Boyd (119/125), Jake Martin (119/125), Sherwood Miller (130/135), Luke Lewis (140), Dillion Hoke (152), Derek Leagan (160/171)
  What's old: Three state qualifiers and two conference champs are back.
  What's new: Cory Wagner steps in at 103. Andre King transferred from Greensboro Dudley and will be at 130. William McGee moves up from JV at 145.
  wrestler to watch: Sophomore Boomer Boyd finished last season with a 38-8 record and should be a contender to place at states this season.
  Coach says: “I think our depth is solid and we have a lot of kids who wrestled year round. Hopefully the new kids will feed off that.”
