• Boys Basketball
  • LAST YEAR: 13-15, 1-7 EPIC; NCISAA quarterfinals
    STARTERS BACK: 3 – G Alex Smith, G TK Kairys, F David Hill
    WHAT'S OLD: The offense will stay the same, with the four out/one in approach.
    WHAT'S NEW: The Hurricanes will have five sophomores and a freshman on the roster, and look to push the tempo a bit more.
    PLAYER TO WATCH: Kairys brings an all-around game to the table for the Hurricanes. Coach Loren Baysden says he’s drawing interest from a few Division I programs.
    COACH SAYS: Baysden said his squad is young, but has the talent to compete.

  • Last year: 22-5, 6-2; Lost NCISAA state final to Charlotte Victory Christian.
    Starters back: 4–Anna Barry, Carissa Corbett, Paige Buffkin, Sarah Barbour
    What’s old: Coach Joe Gaughan has all but two players back from his state-runner up squad.
    What’s new: The Hurricanes added a 6-foot-2 exchange student, Christina Sterzik from Germany.
    Player to watch: Barry is a third-year captain and runs the show. She’s able to put games away with her free throw shooting.
    Coach Says: “How she goes is how we’ll go,” Gaughan said of Barry.
